'I seek to include the viewer in the enjoyment of the subject of my painting: the delight in the finding of a special object, or the discovery of a striking landscape illuminated only briefly by sun or moon. I aim to honour nature in my paintings, to capture its miraculous details and mystical elements. My work is never static: I am at one with my medium, understanding many of the effects possible with the oil paint, and allowing the processes to develop naturally through constant experimentation. I have recently returned to working on wood panels, allowing the grain to form an integral part of the composition. Seascapes now feature strongly in my work, with the rendering becoming increasingly loose, and the application of paint thicker. The burnishing technique of earlier work now often forms the underpainting, glowing through smooth solid layers of oil applied with a palette knife'
Biography: Born in 1978,Lindsey painted from a very young age - the themes of trees and water appearing in her work from these early days. A professional career in painting began after a period of studying art, and also environmental science at universities in Manchester. Her work has captured the imagination of art buyers during the last ten years. Lindsey's detailed illustrative style is now combined with more expressive use of paint. Working mainly in oil, Lindsey applies paint to textured surfaces of canvas, wood and board. The background contains brush marks and relief texture, implying earth and stone. The paint is often applied with a cloth, with layers built up and burnished - a technique she uses to brilliant effect to create the glow of sun or moon. Objects accurately depicted are combined with burnished backgrounds of lustrous colours. Subjects are drawn from nature, with paintings often making use of objects and experiences collected during walks. Many of Lindsey's paintings use sweeping curves to represent a view of the whole world. Over the past 5 years, Lindsey has achieved high sales in the UK and Ireland. A consistently high standard to her work, affordable prices and accessible subject matter have made Lindsey's work attractive to many buyers who have now become collectors. Lindsey's paintings are exhibited at major art fairs including The Affordable Art Fair (London and Bristol) and Art Ireland (Dublin).
