Key influences within my work often stem from Buddhist principals surrounding value and attachment, environmental issues and social interaction. The work is often labour intensive and process led, becoming a meditative style practice. I use the art work to challenge my own value of time, materiality and investment as well as the viewers.
My work tends to generate through installations of a fragile and temporal state and is built using a detailed, hand-made process which usually takes many days to complete.
Because of the ephemeral quality of the work, I embrace it in terms of process and deterioration, not necessarily a ‘finished state’. The organic materials I use within the work reference a connection with nature and have a life independent from the art work itself, thus encouraging the potentiality of the works breakdown through accidental interference.
