All painting regardless of style is essentially about light. To disregard this reality is a fundamental error made to often by aspiring artists. Art should communicate some pretty subtle and at times profound feelings and to do this without ambiguity demands an intimate relationship with the vagaries of light.
Biography: Tom Dickson was born in the city of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1947. His father introduced him to oil painting at age 10 and art thereafter became an abiding focus in his life. He studied at the Ontario College of Art in the mid 60's and later spent much time painting the Ontario landscape.He moved to Nova Scotia in the late 70's and began exhibiting in the prominent Zwickers Gallery of Halifax. Tom has recently moved to Mexico and spends his time between the rugged wilds of Baja California and the old silver towns of Colonial mainland Mexico. He continues to find success and pleasure through painting. His work is popular with those who share a sensitivity to and a respect for the pursuit of honest quality in art.
