Allow me to introduce myself….I am Chrissie Hammond A.K.A ‘Frips’. You may be wondering where the name Frips came from……. It is an acronym for Freedom Rests In Painting Stories. This is my favoured topic and I constantly endeavour to put a great deal of emotion into my work. As a child I would spend hour after hour drawing and painting, fascinated by colour combination and people and their moods and facial expressions. I was always trying to capture a bit of their ‘essence’, which I found almost magical! As an adult my profession for some twenty years has been psychology, counselling and coaching others. Listening, observing and learning about the deepest emotions that make us tick.- From the rages of injustice to the ultimate highs of unconditional love. Culminating in heading up a successful business. Painting has always remained a constant companion to me; an unwavering passion, a permanent challenge and self perpetuating critic! Fears overcome and purpose finally established I now present myself as a professional artist. Telling my story with every brush stroke and as naked as each blank canvas. It is my mission to capture with my heart and soul, in narrative form “people’s stories”- be that from a poignant moment in time, an inspirational occurrence or a kaleidoscope of events which have formed a lifetimes experience. Although my approach may be slightly different – it reflects my personality- and I feel by incorporating a life time of tools & skills acquired and combining them with oils on canvas, I am adequately armed to portray those special memories that can’t quite be captured on camera. Every ‘story’ I paint begins with an indepth consultation in order to grasp exactly what my clients wish to see, sometimes including hidden hints of emotions and quirks peculiar to each individual. I am honoured to be allowed to walk alongside some of these most special moments and memories and to be given the insights necessary to portray with true feeling such fantastic stories.
