Abstract art--like life, is an enigma while being obvious at the same time. Many things seem immediately apparent, and others take time to present a clear sight picture. Decisions are made, but one is truly fortunate to posess the ability to let passion and inspiration flow from the mind. One is then free to take risks and let our creations flow.
Like life, the process of making abstract art is an odyssey of both risk and discovery. As the complicated becomes simple and basic, one realizes that perhaps simplicity is the greatest risk of all.
In art as well as in life, we journey alone through discovery. While although we may plan ahead, things may not turn out as intended as we negotiate various detours. Things just fall into place. I guess the finished product is what we call hindsight.
In my hindsight, I can see how my thoughts and feelings create a type of sight picture to me. Rich oil pigments have become a means of conveyence for me, to merely create a type of simple reflection through the use of wonderful color combinations. It is truely my pleasure to share with you the beauties of abstract art.

Biography: Nancy M Gonzalez Bio...
I have been drawing ever since I can remember. I have no formal art education. My art has developed through its own evolution during the course of my life. Like anyone else, I enjoy the process of expressing my thoughts and feelings through this medium. Today, more than ever, my thoughts and feelings have blossomed into many new paintings.
I feel very fortunate to be able to do this. Initially, painting for me was something very private. Today, I enjoy the sharing aspect of art between people. I am very proud to be called and
"artist", and I embrace and appreciate the opportunity to share my bouquet with you.
I was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to Hilda and Jose Gonzalez. I have a brother and 2 sisters.
My family moved to NYC from Santo Domingo, when I was 16 years old. Right after high school.
At age 17 opened my first business with a partner in Yonkers NY, a bridal & party supplies. Which was a great outlet for my creativity at the time.
I met the father of my children at age of 22,
we married and moved to Philadelphia, were he was raised.
After 13 years and 3 beautiful children, we divorced.
I started my life over and set new goals for myself and reached for my old dreams again. Went back to school, to get my Associated Degree in Business. I Started Painting again, but this time in oils.
I was delighted to find out that I am the first artist from the Dominican Republic here in Philadelphia PA.
I had my first exhibit at Raices Culturales Latinoamericanas,
with the helped from a special lady, Veronica Perez the executive director of Raices at 5th st. and Somerset.
I would describe my work as colorful abstract, bringing out many things, and my childhood memories of Santo Domingo.
I want my work to be enjoyed by everyone, taking my paintings around the US and all over the world.
