My artworks are quite varied in a sense, although always recognisable by their visual signature. I have tended towards the poetic and mythological with a love of symbols and metaphors. The important thing is to explore and to find new forms and connections - working 'into' and 'out of' the imagination.
Biography: Aine Scannell was born and raised in Ireland in. She went on to achieve her MFA at Winchester School of Art University of Southampton in 1995. She also undertook further postgraduate studies in Printmaking at Wimbledon School of Art, which she completed in 1999. Subsequently Aine has taught in Community, Further and Higher education to Masters level in the UK and Ireland. Scannell’s artistic practise over the past few years has increasingly been digitally orientated with outcomes going beyond the frame and into installation and three dimensional form. These may also include intaglio or silkscreen techniques. The subject matter on the whole continues to be narrative in nature motivated by a love of metaphor, myth, and symbol.
