Over the past 5 years I have been building a body of work that examines the politics of sex: private/public perceptions of the sexual act, and the dynamics of female/male interaction. The focus of these works is the human body, abstracted and combined with marine life to create ‘obscene sex monsters’. These partake overtly in private sexual acts of a bestial nature.
Biography: Angela Cheung is a printmaker, specialising in screenprinting and etching. Born in Hong Kong, Angela moved to Brisbane in February 2005 to complete a Bachelor of Fine Art at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. Her work has been exhibited in several exhibitions, and was awarded in 2007 the eX de Medici and DELL Gallery Award for outstanding work in the medium.
