I am an artist's filmmaker working with video. My recent practice focuses on the body and movement. I am interested in the interrelationship between body, psyche and space. Working with contemporary dancers and choreographers has opened up a responsive terrain of improvisation and unscripted action that has created a context where the environment, performer and cameraman are in dialogue. The filming is an event in which multiple voices emerge and the observation made obvious and explicit. For the above reasons I prefer a workshop like process for creating new work where alternative ideas emerge and reshape the original concept. Besides other factors I find the look and the mood of the piece important too. I am highly inspired by painters such as Bacon, Caravaggio, Friedrich or the Pre-Raphaelites and filmmakers such as Jarman, Herzog, Tarkovsky and Warhol.
