Claudia Almansa creates hand woven clothing and accessories like jackets, ponchos, shawls, scarves and handbags. She uses different techniques and fibers, but Wool remains her favorite material. Since 2002, Claudia develops her Wayuu collection whose main thread joins together texture and colors. The collection is inspired by the Wayuu people, an indigenous group from Colombia and Venezuela and represents the creation of men according to the Wayuu myths.
Biography: Born in Colombia, Claudia Almansa began her career in Bogota. She arrived in Canada in 1996, and graduated from the Center of the Contemporary Textiles of Montreal in 2002. She lives and works in Laval since 1996. She has participated in several group exhibits and exposes in Canadian Crafts Shows, particularly the Salon des m?tiers d'art in Montr?al.
