I believe that painting can be a searching out of the meaning that resides in everyday objects. By this process, I find revealed shapes and colors of a wholly idiosyncratic nature, leading to a personal iconography. My lates series "The Upper Light" show the passage of light downward in unexpected ways over a idiosyncratic arrangement of flowers and vases in a challenging metamorphosis of the traditional still life concept.
Biography: A native of Northern California, but now living in Los Angeles, Mr. Tarr studied music composition at UCLA. He received his master degree in information science from UCLA as well. After pursuing a career that encompassed both areas of his passionate interest music and science he came to return to a boyhood interest in painting and drawing. He has studied life drawing with Lynn Goodin, watercolor with Sybil Gonzales and Marilyn Hoeck Neal, oil with Sandi Moss and Trenton Reynold. He continues to explore in diverse mediums
