My body of work is based on my experiences and experimentation. Many of the pieces are based on things that inspire me; nature, travel, everyday life, and personal experiences like motherhood and being a military spouse. I draw my inspiration from emotion, key events and important issues in my life, which are subtly expressed in my artwork, allowing me to share without words those feelings. Life influences my art and art influences my life. Because of this, my work has evolved and will continue to change over the years, just as I will. I feel that when things become too comfortable to me, I should leave my comfort zone and experiment by taking my work a step further or in another direction altogether. In the past I have mostly worked with in 3-D art, that is, ceramics and sculpture. I have also done some acrylic painting as well as experimented with a mixed media of watercolor and pastels or with acrylic and dimensional paint medium for texture and depth. Generally speaking, I have found throughout my years of traveling and interactions with others, people are less influenced by the words others have to say and more influenced by how they express their emotions through actions or art. I want my art to speak to people, and I hope they find the same enjoyment in looking at my work as I have found in creating it.
