My art is inspired by nature. It's about 'bringing the outside beauty indoors'. I would like to bring peoples' awareness to their environment, and encourage them to believe that there is much more to life than consumer materialism. I work using contrast & colour to bring surfaces to life. Nature's shapes & forms inspire me, and I am at one when recreating them through my art. Recently, I experimented with papier mache & plaster, using oil paints to give colour to my creations. Currently I am working on a series of close up images of nature. Art brings me relaxation, and I am pleased that others also get enjoyment from it. Please visit my website for more examples of my work, and the work of my artist partner, Ian Moss.
Biography: Art has been my life. I studied Art & Design at the North Essex School of Art (Colchester) in 1993, and then went on to work as a self-employed trompe l'oeil and mural painter. I spent five years restoring Persian carpets, which was a form of employment that suited my eye for detail! Much of the restoration work was in collaboration with Sothebys of London. In recent times, I have concentrated on a more personal viewpoint on art, and although I still create representational images, they are now more abstract in concept & construction.
