Federico Sabatini is an Italian-born artist and writer who lived in different European countries and settled down in London for 7 years. He graduated in English Literature and is now completing his Phd in Turin on Comparative Literatures and Visual Arts. He creates narrative photography by drawing on modernist concepts such as Joyce’s “poetographics” and the Victorian notion of narrative (both painting and writing) which these modern theories objected. Questioning the ambivalence between possibility and inability to communicate as universal and timeless, he applies it to contemporary life and culture, both mainstream and underground. His subjects are often dolls in which he captures a figurative human element and alienates both them from their being-as-objects in the world, and the human figures which they aim at re-creating. The concern of his artwork is the endlessly changing and changeable human consciousness and the mystery behind strong feelings and bodily perceptions.
