Art is my escape. Art is from the heart.
Biography: As a child her talent came to be recognised early on. From as early as she can remember her childhood was spent with a pencil in one hand and a sketchbook in the other. After attending Huish Episcopi secondary school she went on to study A Level courses at her local college. Amongst Art and Design she studied Pure Mathematics & Statistics and Business Studies. Her spare time, when she wasn’t studying, was devoted to her commissions. To support her private work she undertook design-based employment enabling her to enhance a wide range of skills. Her commissioned work varied considerably. From small ink illustrations for booklets and promotional material to sketched portraits, calligraphy work, customised invitations, and highly detailed acrylic paintings, she is extremely talented. One of her greatest influences has been Wells cathedral in the little historical city. Her meticulously detailed study of the famous Chapter House Steps within the Cathedral was the beginning of a series of equally detailed observations featuring other local tourist shrines. An interest and demand followed and she was encouraged to produce a limited run of signed reproductions that are now successfully appreciated and admired both locally and internationally. Prices start from ?24.00 and feature Wells and Glastonbury scenes. Gemma has established a reputation of one of Somerset’s most natural and appreciated artists. She undertakes work in a variety of mediums but her unique style of creating work with an almost photographic quality has earned her considerable acclaim and deep appreciation.
