I am a textile designer and visual artist and I specialize in print design. As an artist I only express myself and my work is a way to make sense of the world / culture around me. It is a process of personal growth, a visual expression of thoughts and feelings – a way to explore and communicate that exploration. I take my inspiration from everywhere I go. I am influenced by different cultures, by nature, by people, by the silent worlds of my own deafness, thoughts and my imagination and try to express those through texture and design. It is important to me that my work grows out of something that I can relate to or have found beauty in, either in colours, form, pattern, materials or texture – and taking those and experimenting with the decorative and the application of personal meaning. I work in a variety of media, but mainly drawing, painting, print, photography and textiles and embroidery.
