My work is my passion. Two men have greatly influenced my life, Henry David Thoreau and Monet. Thoreau inspired me to live alone with nature and observe as many of her secrets as I could. Experiencing nature without distraction has been the greatest adventure and gift of my life. Monet inspired me as an artist. His colors, and impressionistic style were my Muse. For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a painter but I had not one ounce of talent. Then I discovered the camera and found my voice. The camera is my canvass, my imagination the brush. “Painting with a camera” is not a phrase unique to me. But, this is precisely my mission. To be the painter I always wanted to be using my camera. In my explorations of the wild I find such incredible beauty it nearly breaks my heart. It is my hope to share some of these uniquely beautiful moments and to elicit in the viewer the same emotion I felt when “painting” it.
