My ceramics are designed as centre pieces, to be noticed, but not to be imposing, on the environment they are in. I use the flowing forms of natural creatures, together with uniform, practical shapes, to produce a piece that can perform both the function for which it has been made, and also be an creative and unique piece of art. My training as an industrial and studio designer / ceramicist enables me to incorporate many methods of production in my work. I put great emphasis on the design of each piece, a process which continues right the way through the construction. I get great personal satisfaction in producing the whole item myself, from raw clay and and an idea, to an original and admired piece of work.
