Biography: Drawing and painting since the age of 5, Charlie Frank conquered his own style of urban symbolism. His influences include, but are not limited to, H.P. Lovecraft, Jim Henson, Terry Gilliam, Ray Harryhausen, The Gorillaz and DJ Shadow. In his pre-college years, he was a graphic design artist for surf companies located along the east and west coast. Towards the end of his college career, he put painting aside to pursue a career in the tattoo industry. With the influence of gracious mentor Deborah Olivieri (formally knownas Deborah Inksmith), he was able to gain a whole new perspective on art. His tattoo flash is displayed in over half the tattoo studios in the U.S. and the U.K. After about a 5 year delay, Charlie met his muse, Celenna. She encouraged him to start painting again in a way that he had never experienced. She encouraged him to come back and re-master his technique. She has given him the admiration, dedication and ability to discover a whole new series of paintings. These paintings are going to be displayed in four up-coming gallery showings in Jacksonville, Florida. Now he is working on building an exquisite portfolio to have the ability to show his work in other parts of the United States. In March of 2001, he formed a coalition of urban arts called The Box. As the art director, he helps support the local urban artists who are trying to display their new-style expressive art in the local community. In conclusion, Charlie is still working as a tattoo artist to support his life long dream of becomin a well-known painter and also becoming a mentor for other artist. Special thanks to Debbie Pearlman, Mike Giger, Dee Peacock and friends and family who have supported Charlie throughout his career. Thanks to Ofay and Lara Barker, two of Charlie's greatest patrons.
