City Dwellers are the everyday people doing the everyday things- shopping, walking to work, feeding the birds...etc. I developed these works to be "High Art" according to Albert C. Barnes. They have expressive, decorative, and illustrative meanings and they convey a sense of emotion. I produced this series of work after my academic training at The New York Academy of Art. I originally sought to be an academic painter concerned with light and realism. I found my voice in Drawing and Expressionism. These works are more me and who I am as a modern artist. City Dwellers was developed in 2004. I developed patterns for people and broke their structures to their simplest form. I looked for inspiration in Pablo Picasso's works.
