The digital format possesses greater possibilities than traditional mediums. My work is a hybrid of painting, digital photography, sculpture, drawing and digital image manipulation. I am primarily interested in describing the relationships we have with the human form. I try to expose physical dissonances with my work as a means of expressing our emotional relationships to ideas, to each other, to the world, to ourselves. The unique ability to cross the boundaries of fine art and commercial art make illustration a richer format: by questioning the purity of fine art and the hegemony of commercialism while still being a valid medium for both. Illustration provides an articulate concerned way to present an article or advertisement using visual impact to impart a message. Good illustration steals our gaze, it seamlessly gives us a unity of concept and presentation that stands out from a saturated world filled with a stylized cacophony. I hope my work surprises rather than shocks, is uncanny rather than comfortable. Both the shocking and the comfortable have become ordinary. I hold a B.A. in Fine Arts, having focused upon painting, sculpture, illustration and digital media.
