In Edy's paintings, we are treated to a world of flowers, dragoons and power hungry control freaks of all degrees. Miniature and mountainous doll like pawns compete for power, status and wealth in a game of life where the players make the rules and the marionettes act the part. The works draw the viewer in with a sense of innocence and beauty, only to reveal an insidious underside not always apparent. Edy takes inspiration from the Rococo, Baroque and Impressionist periods as well as contemporary art and culture. Edy's unconventional style is a reflection on action figures, dolls, models, chess pieces, sculptures and other smaller representations of larger manifestation in the physical and mental world. In his paintings we are given a subtle glimpse of the creative control authoritative figures exert over their environment.
