The paintings and drawings I have been focusing on lately are mainly music based. They are of musicians that have created music that has blown me away. I want to be able to show the feeling of listening to their music on a two dimensional surface, hence "Two Dimensional Music." Most of the music is either classic rock and blues based because that is mostly the music that moves me. I also like to work on surreal paintings. I love the idea of paintings that come from places that nobody has ever seen. I have more than a few surreal paintings that I am currently working on. Surrealism offers a type of freedom with art that doesn't seem to exist in too many other places. I also enjoy working on art that can be considered realism. To me, people are the most interesting subject, they, well, we are all unique and all have our own stories. I love the idea of being able to capture a moment or an emotion. Petrinec Painting and Illustration is focused on capturing the feeling of music and showing it as a painting. There's also unique paintings & illustrations involving surrealism and realism.
Biography: I am an emerging artist originally from Buffalo. I attended Indiana Wesleyan University from 1999 - 2003, majoring in Painting & Illustration. There I studied under Painter Rod Crossman and Illustrator Ron Mazellan. I interned in Brooklyn with Painter Robin Ross between my junior and senior year. After graduation, I moved to and lived in Bensonhurst in Brooklyn for a couple of years and had to leave due to a medical situation occurring Labor Day weekend, 2006. Now that all is finally good, I am living in South Jersey and working on getting myself back into galleries and also working on illustration work.
