Biography: I was born in 1977 and grew up around the Martinsburg, WV area. I now reside in Las Vegas, NV. As a teenager, I got into Punk/Indy rock and skateboarding. Still to this day they are the greatest influences in my life. Skateboarding was where I would say that I first displayed "artistic creativity". As I grew up, I began to further explore my creative side. I picked up my first paint brush back in 2001 and have continued painting since. I am a self taught artist or as some would say an outsider artist. My painting style has developed based on trial and error. I would say that my paintings in the past year most define my style. Bold lines, bright colors, and distorted images. I like to think it is like Picasso in a distorted cartoon style. My initial paintings were mere experiments to try to figure out methods that made a succesful piece on the canvas. All paintings are done in acrylic. Why? Cleanliness. I experimented with oils early on but they were much to messy. Since my studio is inside of my house I think that acrylics are a better route to take. My favorite meduim to paint on is cardboard because of its price - FREE!!! That means I can pass the savings on to you. Currently, painting is something I do in my spare time. On average, I will complete about 30-50 pieces in a year. If you are interested in buying art or booking for a gallery, please email me or visit my website at www.williamplatt.com
