PRESENTATION Departing from the drawing, Agust?n Bilbao has been setting down a solid substratum up to be decanting by the study of the human face, where he seems to have found his route of more suitable expression. Agust?n Bilbao interprets the reality across the matter, transforming it into another different and dramatic, human reality, that even coming from the native new captures identity and, therefore, new life. The colour works with skilful brushstrokes achieving an effect harmonic and full of sensibility. He cultivates the form manipulating the materials up to they managing to be extracted by a hidden, latent beauty, which is revealed of surprising form in the games of volumes ", N.J. Bilbao takes, according to the experts, special care of the finish of his works. The major or minor detail of the pieces reveals a degree of approximation to the reality, in many cases of oneiric character. In all his production, he moves between the reality and the Utopia. The oil prevails in all his pictures, whereas for his figures he chooses the refractory mud, the wood and the alabaster. The pieces, of great originality, try to surprise the spectator. The aim of the artist is that the public looks and sees something more than the physical thing. Also his sculptures speak about facts foreign to the purely plastic thing. Similarly to what goes on with his paintings, his sculptures have a constant and fixed invoice, independently of that it is a question of wood carvings, of modellings in refractory mud or of emptyings in bronze. They look like portraits or almost portraits in which the human figure is the principal element, or in that the body, the bust, is a support for other objects, for other sometimes imaginary facts. After an extensive career in the teaching and many exhibitions, the artist from Getxo Agust?n Bilbao begins to form a part of the creators who expose his works in the virtual magazine Almiar. Because Agust?n Bilbao has an integrative vision of the art, not as product of and for elites, but as an essentially human manifestation that prosecutes specially the intimate union with the nature, wherefrom this mud, this wood came out. This is a kind of conciliatory pantheism according to whom everything must be in its genuine condition.
