First and foremost, I am a born again Christian! God is such a major part of my life, I don't know what I'd do without him. He has blessed me with a wonderful family, and many brothers and sisters in the Lord. He has given me many gifts, and I hope that I may one day use them to glorify his name!
Biography: I absolutely LOVE the outdoors! The first year I went on the Loyalsock Hike, was to spend time with my dad, and to prove to my little brother that I could!! He was one of those guys who think women are weak and unable to do things.... (he has sinced changed his mind)
However, God had a bigger plan for me that year. Up in the mts, with no one but a chipmunk or my little brother to talk to (take your pick) I had a lot of spare time to think. With us that year, was a man named Matt Youells, and he read to me the track of "The Poor Huckster". I was like wow, wouldn't it be great to live a simple life like that, and be able to have that kind of confidence, no matter what comes your way!?
Well, just like everything, God tries us. It had rained that night, and we ended up hiking towards the bottom of the mtn. through the swamps. It took us hours to get through it, and I got discouraged. Eventually, I sat down on a stump and did what every woman does best... CRY!
My dad reminded me of Pilgrim's Progress, and the slough of despond. After the slough of despond, comes the celestial city, representing heaven. I wiped my eyes and continued up the mtn. with renewed vigor. When we got to the top, (hold your applause now) I cried again. It was such a beautiful sight, that after hiking through the swamp, it did look like a celestial city. The story of the Poor Huckster came to mind and I felt guilty. My first trial, and I failed, MISERABLY!
It was from that point on, that the lord really started to draw me closer to him. I guess you could say it was my turning point : ) .
So you see, nature to me isn't just a bunch of pretty trees, though they are. It holds a much deeper meaning for me... God, his creation, his presence, his mercy, grace, long suffering patience, and undying love.
Welcome to my world....
