ABOUT THE ARTIST CLIFFORD MADSEN
Cliff started painting seriously only after the age of 40, discovering his innate sense for bold and strong colours & patterns. However, he has carved and sculptured FNQ wood for most of his life.
Born in Mossman, he grew up in the hills near Port Douglas before moving to the north of the Daintree River, where he, his parents & the siblings all lived off the leased land, 30 square miles of high mountain country. Since 1985 he, his wife & children, have lived just north of Innisfail.
Cliff's very strong kinship with the land and natural environment of Far North Queensland is reflected in his images of the wildlife, the patterns, colours, the use of different wood types and grains that dominate his work.
