Biography: Blu Rivard… Creative energy has been pulsing through his veins since childhood. Born May 19,1951 the son of artistic parents, Blu’ s inherent fascination and driving ambition with life fortified him as a visual and performing artist. He bid farewell to his native Detroit in 1977. His restless spirit led him inexorably to Southern California… and the sea. In December 1996 Blu moved to Guam a Pacific island in the hub of Asia. Being filled with new inspirations and culture, Blu’s exploration of the undersea and lands, of Asia and outer regions, that includes Australia. Blu has visited many countries, Islands and people that have embraced his heart making him one with the land, culture, wildlife and undersea reefs, including the Great Barrier Reef. Now after nearly a decade, Blu has returned to his native America to share his adventures on canvas. It is his wish to share with you these diversified and exciting images. Published since 1989, Blu became an accomplished artist not only in the United States of America, but also internationally! His works are collected, exhibited, and distributed in nearly fifty countries to date! Blu’s abiding concern for the sanctity and preservation of nature is appreciated as the emotional underpinning for all his work. Whether in the serene beauty of his Undersea Lifescapes or the grace & majesty of his Exotic Wildlife Studies Blu’s works are not limited. His diversity of works includes Seascapes, Landscapes, Cultural, Spiritual and Historical images of Life. Blu’s characteristic interplay of color, light, and texture are easily recognizable. Blu loves to dive and travel exotic and tropical locations for new inspirations. He is an avid scuba diver and involved in numerous environmental associations. Blu also serves on the Honorary Board of Governors for the Project Aware Foundation through Professional Association of Diving Instructors (P.A.D.I.) with undersea legends such as Dr. Sylvia Earle and Jean-Michele Cousteau, and also others who are great contributor’s to this world’s worthy cause. His images require extensive research and study of the habits, movements and personalities of his subject matter. Blu has education in Marine Biology, Oceanography as well as wildlife studies, which contribute to not only to his love and vision to the underwater world and Wildlife Studies, but the whole planet. Blu has been featured in newspapers, and television programs. His images have appeared on magazine covers. His works are collected internationally by galleries, corporate, and private collectors.
