Concept "The metaphysical landscape / space" It is based on the development of my own artistic expression where I have been trying to recognize my personal spiritual side in the material, and that directed me towards the research of the space which surrounds me ( I began that with the research of landscapes ) and the aim of trying to form my personal poetic space, out of the temporal dimension. Parallel to this development of the thematic aspect, I tried to develop my own poetic expression through my interest for the metaphysical aesthetics, which comes from the personal enquiry about existence and the whole essence of life and reality. This development of my own thematic and poetic expression resulted in defining a concept "The metaphysical landscape, metaphysical space", as a field of my interest where I keep going and trying to reduce this play of space ( internal and external) to simplicity and make a personal artistic language. In the beginning, this work was oriented towards the research of materialistic and visible and their transposition from reality to a two-dimentional area of the picture. The point of view is from the bird's eye, and this is a conscious distance in the gap between the earth and the sky, from the position where the metaphysical impressions of reality are visible. I found realization of spiritual in the material in the work with earth (terra cotta ). From this junction - earth ( ground ) with the earth ( clay ) - began a symbol an abstract mark, a metaphysical connection of the visible and the invisible. In this material I found the most complex and the most meaningfull expression, because apart from the sculptural - painting expression, this material carries the symbolic meaning of the earth itself and also the connection of the four elements ( water, fire, air, earth ) in one substance. Four elements construct a visual quadrant, what is analogical with the image of the earth in the Chinese mythology (like four - square plane surrounded by the sea ). On the surface of terracotta plate I engrave an image of the earth (ground), which as a material has a symbolic sense of the universal substance "materia prima", the life-giving matter. Physical contact with clay carries a special experience, as a substance which is transformed by human intervention (like an allegory of transforming the earth's crust by the geological stratification ) and in this way realizes a transformation from energy to material (energy <> material). This "touch" with earth, the tactile characteristic of this medium, I experience like a return to harmony of the human being and nature ( mythical and religious harmony ). By the returning to archetypes, I realize the counterpoint to the present time of technological expansion and alienation. Starting from the picture of ground, I come to the examination of space, where I keep researching the possibilities of expression, abstraction, through different mediums and disciplines ( art, ecology, urbanism, visual culture...).
Biography: Bosiljka Zirojevic Was born in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia, in 1971. Graduated from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad (YU), 1994., department of painting, masterclass Dusan Todorovic. The post-graduated studies, department of painting, finished at the same academy, 2000. Member of ULUV (Association of fine arts in Vojvodina) and ULUS (The Serbian Association of fine arts).
