My work is a result of continuos research and personal experiences. I abstractly combine materials, surfaces, colors and patterns. In each new work I continue my search for maximum compositional effect. Using objects of everyday life, without disturbing their separate identities, I rearrange and place them in a new context, altering their meaning and making them part of a concept.
Biography: Elisa Relvas, was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on September 1968. Since early, her interest for art was developed by dedicating herself to drawing and painting in her spare time. In 1993 she moved to Caldas da Rainha, Portugal to learn Ceramic Art. Her teachers were potters Jo?o and Armindo Reis and ceramist Herculano Elias. In 1994 she used the acquired knowledge in an Institution for Child Protection in Lantau, Hong Kong, where she worked as a volunteer for one year, providing occupational therapy for children. Elisa Relvas lives and works in Portugal. She exhibits her work since 1996 and is represented in several private collections
