My main objective is to experiment and develop artistically as much as possible- my target is to achieve as much experience to help me grow as an artist, through art I have discovered a much more effective way to portray my emotions and points of view, which are seen as controversial by the close minded individuals in this oppressed society(Middle East). Many of my thoughts and opinions went into my art, therefore my aim is to have viewers travel into my art, and view my pieces more deeply and not just concentrate on the outer appearances, as society usually does. The strengths I see in myself is the ability to freely experiment and choose from a variety of different Medias and styles, and accept any outcome, as well as manage to emotionally open up. In each of my pieces I see a different strength and a new experience learnt. As well as the ability to accept criticism. When I paint I face many problems, including my commitment, as I have never been committed to anything; I soon find myself heavily fixated on art, as it has become a main part of my life. Connecting my art work to my personal life also made me become more daring.My paintings are the product of my inner feelings -wich can only be communicated through paint on canvas. As I started experimenting more freely, regardless the outcome. One of my biggest problems was ignorance, as being in a community that lives by values that can be called conservative and hypocritical at times, I had trouble portraying my work and being judged. I was influenced by many artists, such as Paul Cezanne- I was overwhelmed by the different ways he used colour to show shades, I was also influenced by less famous and more local artists such as Sally Khoury, but since my artwork was a big representation of me-I would have to say that my biggest influence was the society around me and different issues that I have experienced. In my work I wanted to show another side of women, a more confident, independent and inspiring kind of women-the inspiration which may have steered my into this direction was my first art teacher Mrs. Helen Lambie-Jones as In my opinion she is the perfect woman-strong, confident and successful, this is primarily what I've based my work on- ideal women, but I got most of my emotional inspiration from my own mother-who has always believed in me and seen the best in me-without her unconditional love and support I would not have been able to achieve much!
