I work in impressionistic stile using alla prima technique with focus on fine art nudes, landscapes and still life. My stile is influenced by the Russian/Ukrainian painting tradition, with some input from western European art, as I have spent the recent years in Denmark and Germany. In my paintings I seek to capture the mood, atmosphere and the very first spontaneous impression of the motive. In my finished paintings I try to keep the freshness, spontaneity and directness of the first sketch. I use the impasto technique where dynamic and heavy brushstrokes not only give texture to the painting surface, but also emphasize the powerful, spontaneous and unmodified expression I try to achieve.
Biography: I'm a Russian/Ukrainian artist living in Denmark. I was born in 1971 in the Siberian town Chita in Russia. 1980-1989 I went to federal art schools in Kaliningrad (Russia), Duschanbe (Tadzhikitan) and Odessa (Ukraine), where I got theoretical knowledge and practical experience in such classical disciplines like drawing, painting and composition. 1989-1994 I took a major in art at the Odessa Art Academy (Ukraine). In that period of my life I was influenced by several talented and inspiring artist, in particular by sculptor Alexander Koval, who was my teacher and mentor for several years.
