Ars poetica
“Art is an incarnation. The more intense it is, the more “tangible” it becomes. On the contrary: the more apparent it is the more intimate and spiritual it becomes.”
/Janos Pilinszky/
In the middle of the eighties, I was enchanted by traditional technique of old masters. I copied and studied them in order to find out their secret and improve my skills.
When I paint a portrait beside technical virtuosity I intend to express both my models’ lifelike, physical appearance and their immortal soul and hiding personality. I prefer to travel to my client's homes or offices have long conversations because I feel it is essential to capture my subjects in their own.
At the end of the nineties I enjoyed the opportunity to juxtapose symbolic forms and geometric design.
Ironically both the local and the international trends returned to hyper realistic, realistic or figurative art at that time. Technical skills were honoured again.
Although I have felt great enthusiasm for abstract painters,- such as Tihamer Gyarmathy and kinetic sculptures made by Nicolas Schoffer, or ironic locomobiles made by Istvan Haraszty “Edeske” , since I was 16, - in my world apart from some works, humans always appear and play an essential role.
I have been interested in visualising movement and stability, depicting the changing time, experimenting with forms filled in philosophical thoughts, all in my life.
Nothing fascinates and inspires me more than human nature. Storms and calm of the human soul are the preeminent subjects of my art.
