I create Photo Art for a multitude of reasons, let me break it down: First because I am COMPELLED to (really). It 's in my bones - a curse or a blessing? I would do it for free but that would be less than intelligent, degrading to my profession, plus I have to eat and pay for my gear. I have always created on a professional level. Secondly, I love interior design, graphic arts and architecture and have some past experience in those fields, so I strive to create pieces that will enhance your living and working enviornments through color, shape, texture and use of light in each image. I use my professional graphic arts experience to "hone" my compositions. I like graphics, decor and architecture but photography is my passion so I fuse them together through photography. This "fusion" is what my clients say they like most, paired with my imagination which temporarily takes them to another place in their minds. Biography: Marilyn Davenport began shooting at age twelve. Later in the 1970's she use the classic Pentax K-1000. Today she embraces both digital, and black and white disciplines. She earned a degree with honors in Advertising Art with a special focus in photography. She expanded her knowledge and experice through employment by the photography department at a local college where she ran the studios, Mac digital and wet labs, working with Commerical, Fashion, Architectual and Editoral professionals teaching there. She also served as an Advisory Board Member at the college in 2004/2005. Marilyn continued with additional university level photography courses and keeps current with workshops and lectures. Among her awards, she received Honorable Mention for her body of work by FOTOFEST co-founder Wendy Watriss in 2005. Marilyn also worked under one of the FOTOFEST portfolio judges. Marilyn was recently accepted into FOTOFEST2008, after passing through their stringent new juried requirements. Her historial body of work for the FOTOTFEST 2008 exhibition can be found in her Vintage Vegas gallery here. These photos have also recieved recognition and compliments from the media.
