M.N. Dach Collages are one-of-a-kind works of art created from found materials such as calendar illustrations, comic books, picture books, stickers, photographs, yearbooks, magazines, catalogs and other found illustrative sources.
Construction of the collage can incorporate a variety of arts and crafts materials such as construction paper, paints, pencils, crayons, tissue paper and other items.
These items are then cutout, gathered together, and arranged and adhered to fine art quality mat/poster-board. The mat-board is then professionally mounted onto mounting board and texturized using a plastic laminate. The mounting and texturizing is done in order to ensure that the images are protected for posterity.
I began exploring collage as a child growing up in New York City, and continued to experiment with the medium after moving to Texas. Never ending are the possibilities that collage can create for breadth and depth of expression. While living in New York I was exposed to the art of Origami, and currently I am planning to synthesize this form of artistic expression into my collage work. Currently, I am also a graduate student attending the University of Texas at Austin in Curriculum and Instruction. One topic of study I have undertaken is how art can enhance the learning environment and promote student self-esteem and awareness.
