I started to seriously work with oil on canvas once I moved to Australia, main subjects being Nature. My goal is to share with people all those wonderful details Nature has to offer; details we usually miss due our hurried ways of life. An ecological message is hiding behind each image. We cannot preserve what we do not know, and we cannot love what we have never seen. May, 2007: More than one year has passed since I discovered that fascinating and extraordinary world of painting. A wonderful year filled with challenges, learning, discovery, and growth. An incredible year, in which you have accompanied, encouraged and advised me. Thank you very much to every one of you for all your support! In these past twelve months, I learned several things: first of all, like the writer Anaïs Nin said, "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are”. This was painfully clear while I was painting "Rainforest". I needed to paint it four times, each layer on top of the other, because my mind saw the colours it imagined, the ones it supposed to be, instead of the real ones. I also learned the value of persistence, of not giving up. "You are only defeated when you give up". One hundred times and more I needed to struggle to dominate the "out of focus" effect. Rainforest was also the pioneer in this. Today, the out of focus effect in the background can be appreciated in most of my paintings, adding to them a new dimension. I also learned that we don't paint with our hand: we paint with our minds! This was revealed to me when I suffered a lesion called "tennis elbow". It was impossible for me to imagine myself without being able to paint for several weeks. So, I decided to give an opportunity to my left hand, exploring its capabilities and giving myself the freedom to paint something different from my other works. That is the way "A Dos Manos" ("At Two Hands") was born. It was started with my left hand and finished with the right one. I gave superiority to the knife, trying to leave aside my taste for the details and perfectionism. At the moment some of my paintings are being shown in several art competitions and exhibitions, for my immediate goal is to be known in this, my new homeland. They are being offered for sale as well. Randy Pausch Sooner or later we find in our lives brick walls. In the beginning we feel disconcerted, because they usually appear across our path in an unexpected way. And they are the ones that bring to the surface all our insecurities and fears. "-Do I really want to do this? Am I not wrong in my decisions? Do I have these abilities for sure?" Brick walls are hard, cold, dead and difficult to overcome. We can't dodge them, nor surround them. We can't jump over them. We need to confront them without any weapons, with our naked hands and our minds full with confusion, fear and insecurity. Well, in the beginning of 2008 I found my first Great Brick Wall! The doubts confused my senses and I was no longer able to see my path. In this decisive moment I had a dream: I saw myself finishing a painting. And that painting I saw in my dreams turned into an obsession. I wanted to, I needed to paint it! As I was getting into it, there was surfacing a series of fears and anguishes, since that painting, besides being my dream, was also a reminder of a very tough time in my life. I was born and lived in Venezuela's Capital, Caracas for over 45 years. A city of five million inhabitants yet I felt it empty, cold, isolated and dangerous. An asphalt city with concrete people, plastic plants and un-breathable air just like so many big cities. I found myself painting something I didn't like, but at the same time, something that attracted me unrelentingly. It took me several months to finish "Big City Life: Caracas". I didn't paint it. I gave birth to it! Once finished, I felt free again to keep on painting the Nature scenes I love so much. I looked back and I saw my brick wall in pieces...!
Biography: I was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1960 to Hungarian parents. Since childhood I felt attracted to drawing and painting, and explored a variety of mediums and diverse techniques, such as Charcoal, Pastels, Tempera, Water Colour, Red Chinese and finally Oil Painting. I studied at the Workshop School Arte y Fuego and also for three years at the Academy of Design Las Mercedes, both in Caracas, with 98.75% average. Having had no further studies in art, my oil painting is the result of a burning desire to share the beauty and intricate details of Nature. My works had been shown in art competitions and exhibitions in Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia. Some paintings are already in private collections in Australia, U.S.A. and Italy.
