I have a keen interest in Herpetology and have found that other people can often feel repulsed by the idea of a snake without actually ever experiencing any direct contact or even at times any direct observation. This I feel is the idea that informs my practice not only snakes but the fact that people do not always see the beauty of the natural world around them for example mosses, stone formations and fallen autumn leaves etc. An untold beauty is awaiting everyone who opens their eyes and takes time to look especially at the mundane everyday world where we live our daily lives. I experiment within the realms of colour, contrast and texture to convey the usually unseen beauty of both ordinary and exotic natural phenomena. My studio disciplines are photography and painting. All my paintings are painted using high quality materials. I'm a Mother of 6 children the youngest two of which are twins aged 7. I first started painting about 8 years ago as a hobby and thoroughly enjoyed every moment, I find it very therapeutic and extremely rewarding. I consider myself first and foremost to be a self taught artist: I read numerous books on the subject, experimented with materials and ideas while studying at home. However in February 2004 I decided to undertake the challenge of using my self taught skills on a professional basis. To enable this i undertook an OCN Watercolour course and quickly completed all 3 levels quickly. I then proceeded to complete my, Fine Art BA (Hons) degree course at Coventry University and then gained qualifications which enabled me to teach adults. I find that being able to encourage others to experiment and express their creative ideas and images extremely rewarding. I have completed various commission paintings,further commissions are welcomed as I find painting an image to a brief to be a pleasurable challenge.

I possess excellent time management and organisational skills and am accustomed to working to tight deadlines. I find it easy to motivate myself and work well using my own initiative. I can also communicate well on all levels therefore work well as part of a team.
