Urban-ology "the visual study of city habitats" There is a stunning simplicity in the shapes and colors that are scattered throughout our cities. Hard lines and basic forms are inorganic composites which act as a foundation for a spectrum of color hues and tones. The dynamic relationship between these two bring forth a surreal imagery that is vibrant and bold, yet familiar and inviting. Color, proportion, and perspective are abstracted to exemplify these familiar views we walk past everyday Exaggerated shadows in black are laid across the cityscapes while shades of blue and gray construct an asymmetrical sky. Even with the unusual viewpoints which cause some buildings to warp past their normal specifications, they remain recognizable. In short, they are transformed into unique visions that welcome curiosity and interest. The study’s intent is to leave a memorable impression to all those who have failed to notice the cities’ urban beauty.
