I create batik fabrics, tapestries, clothing, and furniture accessories, including wall hangings, pillows, and quilts. My work is always part of an evolution of self, and therefore changes as I do. Often, my batiks are a combination of new and old- traditional techniques and materials, combined with new methods and ideas. I have recently fallen in love with portaiture, and plan to continue following this interest while creating for myself. I work on commission at times, creating pieces to meet the needs of those I encounter, taking into account their interests, display options, and requests.
Biography: I first encountered batiking in a high school textiles class. Within the week or two segment devoted to batik, I fell in love. I was determined to continue on, and the next semester began an independent study in batik, as well as exploring the art at home on my own. Currently, I am exploring the idea of creating a clothing line featuring original batiks.
