Artist Robert Edwin Price enjoys a diverse background of education and experience. Prior to completing a Bachelor of Science, Landscape Architecture program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1992, Robert spent much of the 1980's traveling the United States and Europe assembling a wealth of experience and developing a strong knowledge base.
In the world of watercolors, Robert has consistently worked toward an ideal that he considers on par with the American Watercolor Tradition of the early 2oth century. His education as a watercolorist involved hours of sitting in museums imitating the masters of the craft, Homer, Pendergrast, Singer Sergeant, and Benson among others. When working, Robert uses a small messy palette. His loose brush strokes are the signature of his form. His disregard for labored detail is the hallmark of his watercolor craft. Although he is available for commissions, his subject mater is typically within a ten-minute walk from his house. Over the past fifteen years, his paintings have sold widely in galleries from Portland to Portsmouth, to Newburyport, and into Boston and Cambridge. As a commissioned artist, Robert has completed works for various clients along both coasts of the United States and Europe.
Robert Edwin Price currently resides and works on Plum Island. In addition to his painting, Robert is also a part-time woodworker/finish carpenter/cabinet maker. This clientele knows Robert as a detail-oriented, patient, and trustworthy craftsperson. When he is not painting, or building custom cabinetry, Robert can be found walking the beach, or quietly writing his second novel.
