By the way I express art; I believe I don't have a preference between the materials I use. If is either canvas or paper, Pencil or crayons, to me everything is a part of art and I enjoy every single part if it. My influence to art is my sister, she is now 21. I started drawing at the age of 11 which was in 6th grade. I remember my teacher always giving me compliments about my artwork, everybody loved it!! but my sister while going through High School she started showing me the "shadows" part and I liked it!! I was amazed of what could I do with just a pencil and a paper, I started with circles and now I'm in people, places, etc. It's funny that when you really like something, you see how far you can go. Now I see my artistic part developed, I still have a lot of things to learn but this is the beginning of it.
Biography: My name is Ruth L-Martinez I'm a junior at Greenwood High School. I’m 17 yrs. old and I truly enjoy drawing and painting!! I was born in central Mexico on November 13th, was moved to the U.S. at the age of six, but that was not my choice. After moving to the U.S., I have to admit that I didn't like it here, I had left all of my friends back home. I had to start all over, start a new life, anew life that build up a total different personality, style and a life that opened more educational opportunities, a life that made me. It is hard to realize how hard it is to cope with things, people and places you are not used to. Sometimes you just have to sit and think without having someone there to listen what you are trying to say or what you are feeling. While trying to find a way to communicate and a way to understand others peoples feelings and also a way to express my feelings I've found ART!! Tome art is a base of expressions’, feelings, and emotions which all of these leads to a way of communication. COLORS!! Defining them with a feeling, expression and a emotion. We all have different perceptions’ of art. This is what art means to me, communication, and how I take it! That's the way I express my self and for the first time I'm expressing something in words...
