" A Statement of Thought "
I believe today, WILD GOOSE is connected to and with people as well as businesses across America and the World. We are collected by many at the same time who believe in that "dreams can change the dreamer".
WILD GOOSE was started because of a dream, desire, and a feeling to do more than the norm. We are to preserve and educate.
We are active in a number of social events, lectures and organizations as well as shows, festivals and events to tell our story and to help others.
We at WILD GOOSE make community action an integral part of our life; so that, we can contribute to the world and give back to 'mother earth".
It's like helping us at WILD GOOSE to take steps consistent with our values and our vision.
We believe someone had to start it, and it had to be done.We are more than a business, we are a cause. So WILD GOOSE stepped out and made a statement by saving a great olde place in one of America's National Parks.
Complacency and letting someone else do it, can destroy. Where are we, if we just let Joe do it.
John Durham, founder and WILD GOOSE is for sure a different kind of guy and business. It is more than a concept, it is a way of life. It is what we believe and it is truly a great cause.
The dream, I hope to see it continue and a group of people will catch the vision and see it to it's great heights.
Many children and older people have the opportunity, if we make it available to them to have nature as a playground for their imagination.
With this in mind it seems only natural to make children and our senior citizens along with the Environment, Preservation and The Arts, which is the center of WILD GOOSE focus.
Together, we do have the talent and the ability to do it. Each of us are apart of a giant circle and we hold the power within us to change the world around us through the choices we make.
By using thrown away materials and reclaiming them and recycling them into art. We at WILD GOOSE will take steps to help recreate a healthy planet. It is our way at WILD GOOSE to go beyond the normal usual way and accomplish a great task before us.
We have enjoyed meeting many wonderful and interesting people along the way. Many of them who were discovering this concept for the very first time.
We at WILD GOOSE take that stand to do something and we do it by saving and preserving neat old things.
Today because of that stand, several structures have been saved and reclaimed. The olde coke warehouse, the olde ice house, the Dixie Rose Home in Alabama, olde school desk in Gulfport, MS, Historical windows from a National Park bathe house and then a home, we put on The National Registry of Historical Places.
We at WILD GOOSE, ask you to do your part today by getting involved and join the WILD GOOSE Team for it is no longer a dream, but a reality.
Remember, we can do together, what we can't do alone. We at WILD GOOSE challenge you today to get involved and save some neat things while helping some great causes by using our products and services.
Biography: "There is no accident in you being here…You’re here because of the art." John Durham, proprietor of ‘’Wild Goose Studio,’’ located near Clinton, Arkansas, is an inspired artist and divine showman. He has been in the arts all his life. First as a child on the streets of New Orleans. Receieving many awards for his work recycling and preserving a part of history. But, he modestly says of himself, "I am only a messenger, here to give and share a wonderful message through the art and talent that God gave me.’’
John’s canvas is the world and his palate is the cacophony of discards --- lovingly called recyclables -- that litter it.
But according to John, his work and the works of the other artists that he has put together that work and exhibit at the Wild Goose Studio & Gallery, are not just about making beauty from trash -- at least not just in the literal sense.
The work of the art, as John portrays it, is about getting people to exercise their minds:
"What do I see…???’’
"What is the meaning here…???"
"What is the artist saying to me…???"
And John’s all time favorite: "Why…?"
Picasso, reportedly, was once asked to teach a class on painting but declined with the sentiment "I cannot teach them to paint because I cannot teach them to see."
John has no problem with seeing. He sees art everywhere.
Yet art, as with beauty, is defined by the eye of the beholder. Art autonomously generates some kind of non-intellectual reflux. Provocateur of gut reactions, art regales human senses with surging sensations.
And like beauty, art is often beautiful. It may allure us with pleasure and delight, enchant and amuse us with charm, invigorate our spiritual appetite, and satiate the yearnings of our soul. But, unlike beauty, art is not always so hospitable.
Art titillates, tantalizes and teases vivid images to mind. Art ravishes and raptures with the intoxicating thrill of ecstasy. Art excites, tickles, and refreshes. But above all, art is evocative. An optical illusion that elicits bittersweet feelings which cause you to think.
