Art is the power to create a specific piece using various materials hightened by tone, volume, depth, and definition. Art is the tool for healing the mind, body and spirit. Art is the colors that glow upon the eyes of both the artist and the viewer. Art is the beauty of the human eye. The artist frequently is engaged in a dual relationship: one with the materials used for creation; the other with the perceived audience. Biography: Native Washingtonian, Afrika Abney has more than 10 years experience in the arts, event planning, special program design and implementation, workshop presentation and general administration for various individuals, mid-sized and small organizations, and private companies. Cultivating and influencing several diverse groups in the east coast, her work has impacted people directly in sectors such as academic, faith- based institutions, neighborhood civic groups, and other community based groups. Her background includes significant experience with the arts, computer software programs, Internet research, marketing/promotion, graphic designing, media relations, grant writing, and database maintenance/record management.
