Carl studied graphic design for 2 years at Epsom School of Art 1980-82 (OND Graphic Communication) and 2 years at Cornwall College 1982-84 (HND Graphic Design). He has worked as a freelance graphic designer/art director for 21 years and has been employed full-time for nearly 2 years. His passion and inspiration for painting is derived from places he visits regularly; landscapes of Southern England, South West England; coastal scenery and dramatic skies. He tries to capture the essence of the scene in an impressionist and personal way, working from sketches and photographs to create a finished painting. Constantly striving to extend his skills in water-based mediums he often combines this with pastels. He is a member of Croydon Art Society which he regularly exhibits with and has had work commissioned by the Medici Society and private commissions. His work can be viewed on www.carlconway.com
