STORY TELLING & ON-GOING EVOLUTION. From stories to psychology of the fairy tales, Caroline Bergonzi thinks in terms of archetypes. Her daily inspiration comes from movies, books, dreams and the empiric experience of kung fu, tango, swimming and flying. To her, life is all about rhythm, flux, energies. Actions and reactions. Fusion and transformation. The yin & yang harmony of the contrasts. The too often forgotten cycle of life, rebirth , destruction & creation. Painting (and drawing) remain her favorite medium of expression, first for the full freedom & responsibility the artist has, at any time, in each square eighth of an inch, and mostly for the concentrate impact within a frame. Circles shapes, cocoons in squares, squares in circles. The full intensity of an instant. An artist is a person whose perception is either sharper, twisted or both, to be able to see “things” from a different angle, and has the capacity to translate that vision and share it with the others. Her work, whatever style and medium it takes, comes from within. She processes her perceptions, dreams and ideas. It is the peaceful and complete result, both comforting and disrupting for the viewer, of her unstoppable, unquiet and imaginative mind. Step stones for her, shortcuts for others, a destination which reveals itself slowly and wonderfully.
Biography: Originating from the Principality of Monaco, on the French & Italian Riviera, the land chosen by Matisse and Picasso, Caroline Bergonzi started drawing very early and never stopped. At 17, she moved to Paris and spent there 7 years between Haute Couture studios and underground video games design teams, focusing on the idea of costume. Despite a MBA in Fashion Management, she moved to New York, to stubbornly pursue her artistic career. Soon Bergonzi started painting. Intimate artist, she nurtures her art and showed it during underground events. Still involved in the fashion world, as one of the few upscale photo stylist, fashion artist, she composes images for international photographers and fashion magazines. This experience with images in the media certainly explain the vivid glamour, the purity of her colors and the general nobility of her style, including the darkest ones. "Art is before all a process, an ongoing and unlimited evolution". In terms of style, the Soho based artist is indeed an interesting meeting point of influences: Southern Europe Baroque black backgrounds, Eastern passive sensuality of her silhouettes, metaphysical elements, and the glamour touch of her New Romanticism, with sharp body shapes and vibrant colors. Symbolist, she expresses feelings using human shapes as a medium. Her work is her journey, and she aims towards truth: uncovering illusions and masks, fears and manipulations, to reach out. Her angle: human mechanisms, psychology, philosophy, spirituality, dreams, healing, magic. Her secret challenge is to free boundless imagination and channeling raw emotions, for herself but also for anyone is not able to express oneself through art. And she does it with a unique sensuality.
