I hope through my art to increase peoples awareness and appreciation of New Zealands wild places.
Biography: During the late sixties and early seventies Chris painted English landscape in oils, watercolour and acrylics. He now mainly paints New Zealand bush in watercolour on paper with the occasional acrylic on masonite. After a twenty six year break, Chris returned to painting in 1998 and exhibited paintings in The New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and Archibald's Upstairs Gallery in 1999. In 2000 he exhibited paintings in The New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, Ponder's Rona Gallery and with the Wellington Society of Watercolour Artists at the St James Theatre and Wade House. 2001 started with a solo exhibition in the Michael Fowler Centre by invitation of the Wellington City Council, followed by paintings in The New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and Wade House with Watercolour New Zealand. This year Chris held a solo exhibition at The Art Place Art Gallery. He has also exhibited with The New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and Watercolour New Zealand at the St James Theatre. Chris lives with his family in a pole house surrounded by native forest. This and frequent trips into New Zealands wild places provides the subjects for his paintings. His paintings are included in collection in UK, Canada and New Zealand.
