About My Art
When people view my digital paintings for the first time it's hard for them to understand that they were created on a computer. As a digital painter, instead of painting with oils, I use digitally infused light. It takes me a long time to create one of my paintings. I focus all of my skills and energy on nothing else but the art that's in front of me. Everything else disappears. My work is my Zen. Each piece becomes a part of my breathing. And with every breath, I lay down another brush stroke. All of my original paintings are one of a kind. I don't believe in creating limited editions of my work. I make each painting the beginning and the end. Like the journey our souls take through the course of our lives.
Like our final breath...

Biography: David Robert Cochran
Artist
Born: May 28, 1950
About 30 years ago I was head of a design department that was right down the hall from where they did autopsies! I'm not saying this for shock value but just to illustrate my vast and wonderful career as a professional Artist.
For over 30 years I designed for organizations in the profit/non-profit sector. The position I mentioned above was in the medical field where I headed a design department for a major medical college in Philadelphia for 5 years. I'm so fortunate to have worked in all types of visual media over the span of my professional life. From designing television sets for a major national television show to developing trademarks for fortune 500 companies. From heading the design department of a leading medical publication to developing multi-media slide presentations for corporations. From package design for major industrial companies to designing children's books for a New York publisher. From web-based design applications to original fine art digital paintings for private and corporate collectors around the world.
In 1973 I received a BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art in Philadelphia. Around the same time I received a degree from the Studio School of Art & Design also based in Philadelphia. I continued my education in 1999 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). There I studied at the School of Information Systems Computer Publishing. I learned how to hand code hypertext-marking language (html) without using visual editors.
I have been blessed to been able to diversify my creative and managerial background in all areas of visual design. Current endeavors are original digital paintings and a self owned web based digital publishing company called Netartifacts, publishers of, Architectural Salvage Directory, a source guide for buying & selling architectural artifacts.
