Texture, space and detail are at the heart of my abstract work. In paintings or prints, they approach matter and let it lead the image to a point where the conscious mind can discern a direction, a subconscious intention to be picked out and set into play. Figurative works deal almost exclusively with human experience, centered in an accurate drawing which lends believability to the scenes portrayed. Light and its absence shape most of my prints, where the physical manifestations of emotions are explored and characters are often used archetipically.
Biography: +born in concepcion, chile, in 1974. printmaker / bachelor in Arts, Universidad de Concepcion. Between 1995 and 2007, I have been featured in numerous shows, including one of the first online exhibitions with real-time broadcast (Royal College of Arts, UK, 1996). I have been a founder and taken part in art groups like N.A.D.A., catorcecomauno and the M.A.S. (Southern Artist Movement), which have been active part of our local cultural scene, publishing books, organizing theme shows or doing land-art and urban installations. Besides selling work both locally and abroad, i work as a tattoo artist and freelance designer.+
