I really enjoy the work I do. I like the work that I get to express myself and my feelings. It’s really hard for me to express myself with words and that makes art really great for me. I can express myself with photographs, drawings, and paintings. When I’m planning my art, I try to think of something I have been through or something that someone close to me has been through. I try my best to show emotion. I love using materials that I can get very detailed with, such as pencil or pen. This year in Advanced Drawing and Painting, I have done a lot of things that I thought I couldn’t do. I have used new materials such as acrylic paints and textured bases that I thought I would never like. I really enjoyed expressing myself in a new way. I am going to continue to try new things and find out what I really enjoy using and what subject I like the most.
Biography: My name is Erika Davis and I am from South Carolina. I am seventeen years old. I have been interested in art since I was a little girl. My dad is an artist and that really influenced me to try art. I took a lot of art classes in elementary school, but in middle school is when I really started to understand it and appreciate it. I love just being able to get away from everything that's happening in life and art allows me to do that.
