my art is about nothing more than looking good. catching eyes. grabbing attention. i don't have a manifesto, i don't have an agenda, i don't have a string of long, bland, conceptual-sounding words that make no sense and alienate the average person. i may not particularly like the average person, but i'd rather try to communicate an idea to them rather than bore them.
influences/favourite artists: vincent van gogh, patrick caulfield, andy warhol, edward hopper, chiho aoshima, frank auerbach, richard estes, alphonse mucha, edvard munch, mark rothko.
about this gallery: all images are computer-generated. this is partly due to not having access to a scanner (i have a few paintings i'd really like to go on here) and partly due to me not having painted much lately. this way it's less messy, quicker, etc. but i do kinda miss the hands-on thing. i will paint again one day for sure, i just have to recover from my abysmal college experiences first. at the moment, art is something i do using a computer, when i have nothing better to do, and something very vague to express. so, this is really an exhibition of boredom. please look around, get lost, and think something. anything. please scribble in the guestbook with any thoughts, ideas, criticisms, and death threats. please send all the pictures to your friends as e-cards. and more importantly, please enjoy...
Biography: 1983: born in a cultural vacuum in south-east england.
1987-1999: primary school, secondary school. quiet, good grades, bleh. onset of depression in last year or so.
1999-2001: local college, 'a' levels [art, english lit., psychology, general studies]. quit after nearly 2 years, weeks before final exams, due to lack of motivation and general hatred of said college.
2001-2002: not-so-local college, ‘a’ level art first year. again, lack of motivation/lack of faith in teaching. i think i’ve come to the conclusion that i don’t need college right now.
september 2002: discovered [worryingly] i actually emotionally need college. enrolled on CLAIT [basic IT course] at local adult community college. computers are certainly where i'm at now...
current ambitions: i'd really like a big show-off degree at some point [IT? graphic design? art history?].. the OU is an option. work-wise, i’d prefer to be in the art/i.t. area: computer images, graphic design, web design. if there's any potential employees/partners out there and you like my creations at all, get in touch.
