Biography: Dragan Despotovic was born in 1964 in de village of Obarde, near city of Pljevlja at former republic of Yugoslavia. He studied at the Academy of Art in Sarajevo from 1985 until 1989 when he graduated. In that year (1989) he was awarded by “University of Sarajevo award”. Few years later in 1993 Dragan was awarded for the best exhibition organised in the city of Prijepolje.
In year 2000 he moved to Holland wit his family. After 5 years living in Amsterdam they moved to Best (North Brabant). Up till now he had a 26 solo exhibitions at the several European countries (Holland, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland and Former Republic of Yugoslavia) and also took part at large number of group exhibitions. Dragan also took part at several art colonies and art workplaces such as: Open atelier Skenderija, Sarajevo, ex Yu (1990); Art colony of Milesevo, Prijepolje, ex Yu (1994); Studio for sculptors, Pietrasanta, Italy (1995); Graphics’ studio, Bern, Switzerland (1998); Studio for sculptors , ‘t Ulenest, Holland (2003); Graphics’ studio, Paris, France (2006);
His work is also a part of collections of Museum of Prijepolje (Serbia), Museum of Herzegovina at Trebinje (Bosnia and Herzegovina – Republic of Serbians), and also a part of other private collections in Europe, South America and Canada.
